New
construction always allows for unlimited design
possibilities.
Here we've played off the cottage style of this colonial
in Middle Island by introducing a curved front entry
walk with a circular landing in front of the entry
stairs made from concrete
pavers to lend a casual feel to the entrance.
Gentle curves in the planting beds along with
perennials, simple foundation plantings, decorative
trees and lamppost create an interesting and inviting
palette of textures, colors, and shapes.

Large
evergreen and deciduous trees set in a casual
plantings at the wood's edge. When these
begin to mature, they'll make a nice transition
from the tall pines to the landscaped yard, but
still play off of the wooded setting of this
home. |

The result is a beautiful setting for a
beautiful home. A mixture of decorative and ornamental
plantings along with evergreens and native trees gives this
house in the woods a functional landscape without ignoring
its natural setting.
