We
started with a double-file soldier course of tumbled
pavers outlining the new driveway area and we finished
it with a sizeable apron at the street.
We also installed a low stacked stone planter, a
wrap-around raised planter made of precast concrete
wall block and re-faced the entry steps using clay brick
with paver accents, bluestone treads and a bluestone
landing.
Here's a great
example of the use of both Hardscape and Softscape in a
landscape design. The main objective of this job was to
create a larger driveway area, create an entry courtyard
and accent the overall area with touches of stone
as well as install a variety of plant material.
We
installed a wrought Iron gate between the planters and
used tumbled pavers in a random pattern to create the
courtyard. The area features a wide curving step, which not only
solves an elevation problem, but adds a nice detail.
A
wide variety of plant material finishes the
job and adds multiple textures and colors.
The overall feel is more like a cottage
garden, but with the functionality of a more
modern landscape.
