What the homeowners  wanted in this water feature was not only something that would be a focal point, but they also wanted a small flagstone patio nearby as an extension to the existing patio as well as a stepping stone path behind the water feature to create a 360 degree "walkaround"
The plan here was to create a small "stream" by setting the weir, (the head of the falls), back several feet from the edge of the pool and allowing the water to sort of gently roll over a variety of stones and spread out considerably before reaching the pool.

Massive stones are used for the base of these falls to provide stability for the project itself and to also allow us to create a wide dispersal area for the water.  Smaller, flat stones are used not only to add character, but to also allow us to guide the water in various  directions to create the look we're after.

After the water feature was established and all of the water was flowing properly, we turned our attention to the rest of the job.  We installed a dry-laid flagstone walk connecting both sides of the patio and providing a sort of "strolling path" behind the falls.  A wooden swing offers a place to stop and sit and enjoy the scenery.

The finished job has created a beautiful focal point as well as serving to connect both sides of the yard. There was a considerable amount of homeowner input on this job.  We consulted with them frequently, as we do on all of our projects. The result, as always, is a satisfied client in addition to a job-well-done!
