When
we first sat down to discuss this job with the
homeowners, they told us that they'd like a small
water feature somewhere. We had no specific
design in mind, but we did have a general idea of
where this feature should be located. |

Since
we also designed a rather large stone path to connect
the driveway to the rest of the yard, we all agreed that
the water feature should be somewhere near it.
In the picture on the left, you can see that we located
this feature so that it can be viewed from the deck, (in
the rear on the right), and from a large window which
allows a view from the living room. Since the path
leads to a set of stairs and then a lower patio,
visitors would also pass by this water feature as well,
so this turned out to be a perfect location. |

The
homeowners were very fond of garden statues
and other knick-knacks, but none more so
than faeries. They showed us the two
faeries here, (left), and basically asked us
to design a water feature around them.
What we
came up with is a rather whimsical fountain
with a small collecting pool that resembles
a natural spring. With the spray from
the fountain head, the plantings which
surround it and the overall setting, this
feature, though not a centerpiece of the
design, is quite a conversation starter. |
